Red Sabres defeat Gold Sabres, 3-1, in playoff opener

Goalie Trevor Galante and his Micron Gold Sabres squared off against the Red Sabres in their opening playoff game.

Jack Gilbert's goal put the Gold on the board first when he banged home a shot by Hudson Curtin.

Goalie Joe Signore blanked the Red the rest of the way. Emily Matthew (Hunter Steward), Jacob Fairbrother and Will Redding each scored. Ryan Curtin added an assist.

Notable efforts came from Nicholas Haas, Trevor Kuntar, Jack and Ryan Rapini, Jacob Conley and Zachary Esch.

Red Sabres Kylie Rosen, Evan Mulderig, Conner Baetzhold and Paul Cartone gave the Gold all they could handle.
