Northeast YMCA Sharks fare well at district championships

The Northeast YMCA traveled to Olean, N.Y. to compete in the District Championship.

The girls 8 and under, boys 10 and under, and the senior girls won their divisions. The girls 12 and under, boys 12 and under and girls 14 and under each took second in their divisions.

Girls 8 and under

First place finishes came from the relay team of Caroline Smith, Camryn Sullivan, Samantha Nagy and Anna Zarzecki (100 free, second in 100 medley), Smith (25 back) and Sullivan (25 breast)

Nagy placed second in the 100 IM and 25 fly. Zarzecki took third in the 25 breast.

Boys 8 and under

Jonathan Zarzecki (100 IM) and Tom Hughes (25 fly) each took second. James Hughes placed seventh in the 50 free.

10 and under

Kendal Smith took second in the 50 fly, Natalie Jusko placed fifth in the 100 IM, and Emma Lister went sixth in the 50 free.

Boys 10 and under The team of Jacob Zarzecki, Eric Niblock, Julian Marable, and Patrick Smith won the medley relay. Jacob Zarzecki won the 50 fly; Smith placed fifth.

Girls 12 and under

The relay team of Grace Lawson, Madison Reimers, Olivia Marable and Siobhan Johnson took second in the medley relay.

Siobhan Johnson and Madison Reimers went 3-4 in the 50 breast. Mary Bridge placed fifth in the 100 free.

Boys 12 and under

Kyle Fortner placed second and Garret Brokaw took seventh in the 50 free.

Girls 14 and under

Charlotte Drozda won the 200 IM and 200 fly. Allison Scaringi placed second in the 100 breast.

Senior girls

The relay team of Alex Skomra, Courtney Denk, Michell Niblock and Kaeylyn Sullivan won.

The other relay team, Michelle Niblock, Alex Skomra, Kaelyn Sullivan, and Kerri Bubar also won. Denk placed second in the 200 IM. Sullivan and Skomra went 2-3 in the 50 free.

Reimers won the 500 free and Beamer placed second. Denk and Bleichfeld went 2-3 in the 100 breast.
