YES program names Youth Volunteer Award honorees

The Amherst Youth Engaged in Services Program will honor a number of youth volunteers at an awards gathering to be held March 5.

Nine students will be honored with a special award, President George W. Bush's Volunteer Service Award, given by the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation, for serving their country and community with distinction.

They are Kate Treiber, Renee Sima, Matthew Feifel, Ashley Hartman, Hynunsoo Paul Cho, Ashley Schilling, Richard Sima, Teresa Sprow and Lauren Stuck.

Through the YES Program, seven students will be honored as Volunteers of the Year for volunteering more than 75 hours. They are Pam Meyerhofer, Hartman, Haley Schilling, Cho, A. Schilling, Richard Sima, Sprow and Stuck.

Silver Awards for volunteering 50-74 hours will be given to: Matthew Feifel, Esha Maheshwari, Eric Nill, Treiber, Renee Sima and David Rich.

Bronze Awards will be given to the following students for volunteering 30-49 hours: Jacqueline Bobo, Matt Rubin, Arjun Puri, Hao Qin, Cathy Lu, Kelly Lansing, Rachel Alfasso, Alyssa Drozynski, Allison Soucise, Georgie Pascanu, Aditya Varanasi, Sylvia Kelly, Emily Stoner, Ryan Dohn, Rhea Puri, Nabihah Ahmad, Katie Dennick, Neha Singh and John Nill.
