Amy M. Marek and Bernardo M. Amaro

Bonnie Szalanski of Blasdell announces the engagement of her daughter, Amy Marie Marek, to Bernardo Montanez Amaro, son of Janet F. Amaro of Memphis, Tenn., and the late Rudolph Moore. Miss Marek is also the daughter of the late David Halbrook.

Miss Marek graduated from South Park High School in 1997. She received an associate degree in criminal justice from Bryant & Stratton College in 2007. She is preparing for a job at the Erie County Detention Center.

Her fiance graduated from South Park High School in 1997. He works at Buffalo Newspress.

A June 2008 wedding is planned.
