Volunteers owed trustees' apology

Both trustees Brian Geary and Jeff Kingsley owe Sarah Sutcliff, Pat Siracuse and me a formal apology in The Amherst Bee for their misrepresentation about using committees in the village for our own political agendas (Feb. 13 edition). We have all served on committees volunteering many hours of hard work to enhance the quality of life to residents in the village based only on our love for this community.

This inappropriate remark by Mr. Kingsley needs to be reprimanded, and he owes each of us a personal note of apology for his untrue statement. I would guess that I have given more of my unpaid time volunteering to the village than he has getting paid working to be a trustee.

I want to thank Mayor Mary Lowther, Trustee Basil Piazza and Trustee Brian Kulpa for their vote of confidence in appointing me to the Special Events Committee. It is volunteers in this community, along with our elected officials, that make a significant difference in the "specialness" of living in the village, and I look forward to continuing my volunteer work.
