School News The Park School of Buffalo will present "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown," a musical based on the comic strip "Peanuts," written by Charles M. Schulz. Amherst residents featured in the cast are Emily O'Hara of East Amherst as Lucy, Elizabeth Maxwell of Williamsville as Freida and Jacky Turley of Amherst as Lila. They are all sophomores. Performance times are 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28; 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 29 and Saturday, March 1; and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 2, in the Helen Long Building on the Park School campus, 4625 Harlem Road, Snyder. Patron seats are $15, and reserved seats are $7; tickets at the door are $8. For information, call 839-1242, ext. 109. Alina Jeon, a senior at Williamsville East High School, was awarded the 23rd annual Friends of the Amherst Symphony Orchestra/Williamsville Rotary Scholarship. An oboist, Jeon studies at Eastman School of Music with professor Richard Killmer, in addition to her studies at East High School. She plans to pursue a career in music education. She will be recognized at the 7 p.m. April 6 concert to be held at Amherst Middle School. Kyle Martinsen of Williamsville was a John Cardinal O'Hara Council 13661, Knights of Columbus Free-Throw competition winner, held at Nativity of Mary School, Harris Hill. He won in the 10-year-old boys category. Winners competed in the diocesan free-throw shootout held at Our Lady of Hope Knights of Columbus Council on Feb. 23. |
