Squirt Stars play strong, defeat Rangers

The Squirt Stars continued its hot streak to start the playoffs by handing the Rangers a 5-1 defeat this past Sunday.

Goaltender Lucas Principe has gotten into a groove at the right time of the season after showing flashes of brilliance all season. He had a 70-minute shutout streak end with a goal by Christian Baran with 3:04 remaining.

Ricky Bruno continued his great season, scoring four goals, including the game winner. Austin Abbarno and Joshua Gilbert received assists.

Tim Zatkos, one of the hardest workers all season, scored a short-handed goal.

Squirt Stars blank Blue

Sabres, 3-0

The Squirt Stars beat the Blue Sabres, 3-0, in the first game of the playoffs on Feb. 10.

The Stars handed in its best effort of the season with goaltender Lucas Principe recording the shutout.

The Stars' defense played a shutdown system throughout the entire game. The Stars' offense came to life in the third period, scoring all three goals. Nick Peters scored the game-winner short-handed. Ricky Bruno scored twice. Anthony Macchia, Austin Abbarno, and Noah Reinhart had assists.

The Stars' special teams killed off six penalties and scored short-handed.
