Maria P. 'Mary' Manguso, school crossing guard

Maria P. "Mary" Manguso, of Cheektowaga, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008.

Born and raised on Buffalo's West Side, she worked in the family grocery store and tavern.

Mrs. Manguso was a school crossing guard with the Buffalo Police Department and worked out of the old Precinct 5 from the early 1950s until her retirement in the 1970s.

She was also a member of the Women's Card Club for 20 years. In later years, she enjoyed traveling with her husband to visit relatives in Phoenix, Ariz.

Mrs. Manguso was predeceased by her husband, Anthony, in 2004. She is survived by one son, James; one daughter, Maria Arieno; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services were held on Saturday, Feb. 9 at St. Gregory the Great Church. Arrangements were made by Amigone Funeral Home.
