Sacred Heart student helps design, produce TV show

Danielle Arthur
Danielle Arthur, a junior at Sacred Heart Academy, was one of 26 high school students from Western New York chosen to design and produce an hour-long original television production for WNED-TV, titled, "Our City: Buffalo."

Students participated in a guided production process, brainstorming ideas, completing research, and learning about television production and how to handle the camera. A "Red Carpet Event" was held recently at WNED studio to showcase the students' work.

The ThinkBright TV Youth Media and Civic Engagement Project provided students an opportunity to take a closer look at people, places and things that make the City of Buffalo a "special place to live, work and raise a family."

"Not only did I learn how to produce a movie, but I also learned a lot about the City of Buffalo," Arthur said. "The area I focused on was the Theater District, as I personally have been a dancer since I was a young girl. I was really impressed with the quality of arts offered in Buffalo."

The documentary will be aired on WNED-TV at 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, as well as at 8 p.m. on March 23 and 29 on ThinkBright.

Arthur is the daughter of Mike and Susan Arthur of Williamsville.
