EPIC enrollment event set

EPIC, the New York State prescription plan, will hold an enrollment event from 10 a.m. to noon, Thursday, Feb. 21 at the Amherst Senior Center, 370 John James Audubon Parkway, Amherst.

A representative will be on hand to assist eligible senior citizens in filling out applications and to answer questions about EPIC and how it works with the Medicare prescription drug coverage plans. Senior citizens are encouraged to bring proof of age and 2007 income, including 2007 Social Security income documentation.

The representative will also be available to assist EPIC members in completing the "Request For Additional Information" forms they may have received. These members should bring current income information.

EPIC helps eligible senior citizens save approximately 80 percent on the cost of their prescriptions. To be eligible for EPIC, a person must be a New York State resident, older than 65, and have an annual income of $35,000 or less for a single person, and $50,000 for a married couple.
