Donna and Bruce Donnelly of Delaware, Ohio, formerly of Snyder, announce the engagement of their daughter, Laura Marie Donnelly, to Morgan Tyler Smith, son of Brenda and Neil Smith of Jefferson City, Mo.

Miss Donnelly graduated from Amherst Central High School in 1997. She received a bachelor's degree in journalism from Ohio University in 2001 and a master's degree in media studies from Pennsylvania State University in 2003. She works as an editor for the Association of American Colleges and Universities in Washington, D.C.

Her fiance graduated from Douglas Hickman High School in 1998. He received bachelor's degrees in ceramic engineering and computer science from Missouri University of Science and Technology in 2002 and a master's degree in material science engineering from Pennsylvania State University in 2005. He is a technical research analyst at BSC Inc. in Laurel, Md., where he works on alternative energy technologies.

A May 2008 wedding is planned.
