School News Eric Samuels, a senior at Williamsville North High School, was one of 428 students worldwide awarded a scholarship to attend the Honeywell Scholars Presidential Classroom program from March 2-8 in Washington, D.C. He is the son of George Samuels of Williamsville. The purpose of the program is to offer a globally diverse group of students the opportunity to learn firsthand about the interconnection between science, technology and public policy. Samuels is a member of the National Honor Society and an assistant instructor at Master Chong's World Class Tae Kwon Do. Summit Educational Resources in Getzville has named the following local residents as board members: Elizabeth Schachtner of Williamsville, planning/ marketing consultant; Constance Holoman of Amherst, assistant vice president for university relations - University at Buffalo; Christopher Schnirel of Amherst, manager accounting policy for HSBC Bank USA; Robert Spangenthal of Williamsville, president of Lake Ledge Systems Inc.; and Jack Wagner of East Amherst, chief executive officer of Inracks Inc. Summit Educational Resources in Getzville appointed the following town residents to its foundation board: David Aston of Snyder, employee benefits manager for Niagara National Insurance Inc.; Jerry Cornish of East Amherst, first vice president/wealth management adviser for Merrill Lynch; Kent Keating of Amherst, chairman of the board of Seevast and founder of Kanoodle.com; and Mike Nurse of Williamsville, station manager for WKBW-TV Channel 7. They join these town residents on the board: Mark Martin of East Amherst, vice president of M&T Bank; Terry McGuire of Williamsville, assistant vice president of M&T Bank; and Terese Scofidio of Williamsville, Summit's chief financial officer. |
