Heavyweight battles take place in major, junior divisions The No. 1 and 2 teams in the Major and Junior division in the Buffalo In-line Hockey League Group met this past Saturday. The Major division match-up between the Blackhawks and the Vikings was very much like a heavyweight fight with each team landing what seemed to be knockout blows only to have the other team come back. Seven lead changes occurred throughout the game until Adam Terragnolli scored with only 2:15 left to give the Blackhawks an 11-10 win and first place in the division. Adam Rainey (Tonawanda) had an extremely strong game and Justin Swan had five tallies for the Hawks and David Campuzano scored five goals for the Vikes. In other Major division action: Killer Pandas 12, Firestorm 6 The Pandas got an outstanding offensive effort from John Lyons (Amherst), Christian Curtola, Zac Carlisle (Kenmore) and Zac Robinslon to pick up this win. Snipers 10, Mulecats 6 Eric Wright had a double hat trick to lead the Snipers to win its first game of the season. Red Snappers 9, Crush 6 Taylor Setlock had four scores and added two assists to pace the Reds. Stealth 10, Warriors 7 The Stealth picked up their first win of the season with Josh Grant (Kenmore) and Nick Durante (Tonawanda) each scoring four times. Junior division The Junior division battle saw the Devils take sole possession of first place with an 8-4 win as five players scored, paced by Ryan Owarczyck (Amherst). Ben Speyer tallied a hat trick for the Gladiators. Sharks 7, Capitals 2 The Sharks opened up a 4-0 first period lead, got five goals from Adam Terragnolli (an underaged player who plays in both divisions) and coasted goal to the win. Maroons 6, Penguins 2 The Maroons earned win number one of the season as Jonathan Meyers (Tonawanda) got his first BIHG hat trick, along with two assists. Knights 6, Orangemen 5 (shootout) Aaron Crane scored with only four seconds in regulation to tie the game. Crane and Mike Vaccaro both scored in the shootout to give the Knights the two points.
