Woman 'locked' in building overlooks 'push' sign

(Editors note: The Bee's police blotter is a sampling of unusual, sometimes humorous calls received by the police department. It is not intended to be a complete record of all incidents reported.)

Friday, Feb. 1

• Police were called to an emergency room on Maple Road because a patient took a swing at a doctor after being refused pain medications.

• An Imperial Drive resident had a cover to the air conditioner and two driveway markers stolen during the night.

• A woman complained about dogs constantly running around in Amherst State Park on Mill Street. She said she had been injured in the past from being knocked down. The dog warden was asked to respond.

• A concerned resident on Hillside Drive called police to say a car was parked facing the wrong way. The complainant called back to say the vehicle had been moved.

Saturday, Feb. 2

• A Leonore Road resident complained that a neighbor had been parking on the street every night and hadn't been ticketed all winter.

• A 911 call was placed from a Coronation Drive address. The man stated he had a new phone and pushed a wrong button.

• A call was placed from a cell phone on Niagara Falls Boulevard, and a woman was screaming that someone threw something at her car. The call was then lost. She was contacted by the dispatcher, and she said was almost hit by another car and she yelled at the driver, who got out and threw a beer bottle at her and threatened to fight her.

Sunday, Feb. 3

• Police responded to Maple Road for a suspicious person in a vehicle in a back lot. Police reported that "Romeo and Juliet were sent on their way."

• Police responded to an apartment complex on Millersport Highway after a man called, stating that his roommates were loud, drinking and smoking weed. He wanted police to respond and tell them to stop. When police arrived, no one in the apartment admitted to calling.

• An alarm was ringing at a gas station on Millersport Highway. It was reportedly set off when a newspaper being delivered hit the front door.

• On Violet Avenue, a man complained that two people had been outside arguing for an hour about an evergreen tree that had been cut down next door. The parties that were outside claimed there hadn't been an argument.

Monday, Feb. 4

• Police responded to Charter Oaks Drive about a neighbor complaint. The upstairs neighbor reportedly banged on the door to object to the downstairs neighbor showering at that time of night. Both were advised.

• Police we were called to a business on Sheridan Drive to "dispose of skateboarders."

• A Monroe Drive woman called from out of town requesting that police check on her house. She said her son was home and had been allowed to have friends over, but she was notified that an underage drinking part was taking place, and she wanted it broken up. Police reported that no one appeared to be in the house.

Tuesday, Feb. 5

• A wallet was stolen out of a car on Chasewood Lane.

• A Meyer Road woman reported that her car was missing from the lot, and she didn't know the plate number. No problem was found; her husband had the vehicle.

Wednesday, Feb. 6

• Police were called to a laundromat on Eggert Road where a woman was locked inside the business while her 6-year-old son slept in the car. She said the door locked automatically. Officers used the "push to exit" button on the wall.

• A gas station employee on Niagara Falls Boulevard complained of a chronic offender who steals gas every third day. The latest theft amounted to $15.05. The plate on the car did not match the description. The employee would call back if the suspect returned.

• A Thames Court resident called police to report that a bird flew into the house yesterday and has now been caught, but has a broken wing. The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was notified.

Thursday, Feb. 7 • A gas station employee on Millersport Highway reported that a man was walking back and forth in front of the store for 30 minutes, asking questions about whether or not there were cameras at the pumps. He called a cab to go home.

• A hotel employee reported that a homeless man had spent the night in the exercise room of a Main Street hotel and was now out walking but had left behind a bag and coat.

• A 911 call from a Clearfield Drive resident was made because a young female, who was crying, said she was having a disagreement with her parents over the use of her vehicle, which she said she paid for and has registered in her name. No problem was found. Police determined it was a family discussion about rules.
