Dr. Hans F. Kipping, dermatologist, UB professor emeritus
Born in Chicago, he attended Lafayette High School and graduated from the University at Buffalo, and in 1947, from its Medical School. Dr. Kipping served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army during World War II and as a captain in the Air Force during the Korean War. In the 1950s, he did his residency in dermatology at E. J. Meyer Memorial Hospital, now Erie County Medical Center, and Buffalo General Hospital before going on to private practice in Amherst. In the early 1990s, the Medical School held a dinner in his honor for his work as a professor to UB's dermatology residents. He retired in 2006 and celebrated his Medical School class's 60th reunion last year. Dr. Kipping was a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Board of Dermatology and Dermatopathology and the Cutaneous Therapy Society. He was also a member of the International Wine and Food Society and the Williamsville United Methodist Church, participating in its chancel choir. Dr. Kipping enjoyed ballroom dancing and received many first place trophies in national competitions. He was predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Rosemary, in 1993. He is survived by two sons, John and David, and one daughter, Susan Attea. Services were held on Saturday, Feb. 9 in Williamsville United Methodist Church. Arrangements were made by Beach-Tuyn Funeral Home. |
