Amherst woman charged with DWI

An Amherst woman was arrested by Erie County Sheriff's deputies after she reportedly caused a three-car accident on Route 33 in Buffalo on Saturday.

The Sheriff's Office reported that deputies Bert Dunn and Dan Zlotek had stopped a car on Route 33 for a traffic violation when the patrol car was struck from behind by a vehicle operated by Maureen Doessinger, 46, of Amherst.

The collision caused the patrol vehicle to strike the vehicle it had stopped.

Doessinger was arrested by the deputies for driving while intoxicated, unsafe speed and failure to maintain lane. According to the Sheriff's Office, she refused a breathalyzer test.

The deputies complained of back and neck pain and were taken to Erie County Medical Center, where they were checked and released.

The Sheriff's Office investigation is continuing.
