Williamsville students named finalists in scholarship competition Ten students from the Williamsville Central School District have been named finalists in the 2008 National Merit Scholarship Competition. They are: from Williamsville East High School, Zinan Cheng, Hannah D'elia, Kane Hsieh, Matthew Pawlicki, Raghav Phadke, Richard Sima, Katherine Tang and Katherine Vermilye; from Williamsville North High School, Dana Gradl and Allison Lyttle; and from Williamsville South High School, Roy Hanna. These students have advanced in the competition after being named semifinalists last September. They are among approximately 15,000 finalists named this year, representing less than 1 percent of high school students nationwide. The selection of some 8,200 Merit Scholarship winners is now in progress. Winners will be announced in May. |
