The Roswell Park Alliance Community Advisory Board has named its co-chairs for the 2008 Ride For Roswell, including John Hannon of Amherst and Richard Suchan of Getzville. Hannon, a top Ride fundraiser, has been named logistics chair for the 2008 Ride. He is a cancer survivor and was instrumental in the creation of The Lion's Den interactive playroom in Roswell Park's Pediatric Center. Suchan has been named fundraising chair for the 2008 Ride. He has been a Ride chair for the past three years and previously won the Katherine Anne Gioia Award for his volunteer leadership at Roswell Park. The event has raised more than $6.4 million for Roswell Park Cancer Institute since its inception in 1996.

ElderWood Health Care at Heathwood's Resident Council recently donated $830 to Camp Good Days and Special Times. Council members June Broker and Lavern Phillips presented a check to Lisa Donato, from the the organization. The donation was in honor of Maddison Doel, daughter of staff member Julie Doel, and in memory of Jamie Badding, Maddison's good friend from camp, who lost her battle with cancer in December 2007.

The Upstate NY Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society raised $17,000 through its 2007 "Team Up 4 MS" campaign. The local chapter raises money to help fund national research and to support local programs and services offered to people with MS and their families.

The Alzheimer's Association, Western New York Chapter named the board of directors officers for 2008. Amherst resident David Cascio, administrator at Quaker's Landing Memory Care Community, was elected to his first term as president. He is also chair of the chapter's Public Policy Committee. Kevin English, a partner at Phillips-Lytle, was named vice president. Ann Marie Doetterl, director of program development at Homewatch CareGivers, will retain her position as secretary, and Diana Panattoni, manager of Gaines, Kriner, Elliott LLP, will retain her position as treasurer. The association is headquartered in Williamsville.
