Buffalo United boys' U14 takes first at tourney The Buffalo United boys U14 "White" team took first-place honors in the Sahlen's Sports Park Friendlies Tournament held on Sunday. BUSC won all three of its qualifier matches and went on to defeat the Rochester Football Club, 1-0, in the championship game. In the first game against the Unionville, Ontario, club, BUSC went down early, 1-0, but goals by Alex Pollak, Dylan Krueger and Jonathan Vara (Amherst) helped Buffalo United to a 3-1 victory. The second game was highlighted by Amherst's Liam Callahan's lone goal, in which he dribbled through the main body of AJAX's midfielders and defenders to put the ball into the net and come away with a 1-0 victory. Next, BUSC defeated the Rochester Rhinos, 3-1, in which Dylan Krueger scored his second and third goals of the tournament. Kyle Herod added the third goal for BUSC. The championship game against the Rhinos had Callahan again on the scoring chart by launching a perfect corner kick that was headed into the net by Mac Garner for the victory. Buffalo United leaves for Philadelphia on Feb. 29 for the start of the 2008 Region 1 Premier Outdoor Spring Season. |
