Spot coffee to move into village Plans have been made for a new Spot Coffee, which will move into the former CVS location at Main Street and Union Road in the Village of Williamsville. "Construction is set to start in February," said Eric Recoon of Benderson Development. "So the Spot should open in late spring." Recoon noted that the Spot will only fill up part of the building and that other tenants are being sought to fill roughly half of the rest of the building. The coffee shop currently has other locations in the City of Buffalo, the Town of Tonawanda, Rochester and Toronto. It will compete for customers with the village's existing coffee shops, including Starbucks, at 5395 Main St.; Caffe Aroma, 5229 Main St.; Tim Hortons, in the Tony Walker Plaza; and Village Desserts, 5542 Main St. Tenants are also being sought to fill the remaining vacancies on the Main Street side of the Walgreens building. However, Walgreens, which paid for the new Williamsville sign at the corner, as well as the landscaping, has the right to accept or reject possible tenants. The Williamsville Village Board addressed the new developments on the corner of Main Street and Union Road and discussed the possible necessity of preventing left turns out of the parking lot at Walgreens. "That driveway should be made right turn only," said Trustee Brian Geary. "It's a major accident waiting to happen," added Trustee Basil Piazza. "We might have to revise the (zoning) code, but we should do it for the safety of the people." In other development news, the Cosmetic Vein and Laser Center will soon occupy the building adjacent to the Walgreens at 52 S. Union Road, which previously housed the Stereo Advantage Lifetime Service Center. The Cosmetic Vein and Laser center will be relocating from 4600 Main St. "Our practice has grown considerably over the past 10 years," said Dr. Daniel Buscaglia. "We now have 14 employees, over a dozen high tech lasers and many new services to offer." The center will occupy over a third of the 20,000-square-foot building. Approximately 13,000 square feet will remain empty in the building. Iskalo Development Corp. will handle the building's redevelopment which, when completed, will feature a brick façade, architectural windows and a clock tower. |
