Kadimah appoints new head of school

Weiss
The Kadimah School of Buffalo, located at 1085 Eggert Road in Amherst, appointed Joel H. Weiss as head of school for the 2008-2009 academic year. Weiss will assume the position on Aug. 1.

Weiss has worked in public education and administration for 40 years.

"Joel (has) an impressive record of accomplishment in public education," said Ken Shuman, president of Kadimah School of Buffalo's Board.

Weiss' career includes serving as principal at several Western New York schools, most recently Ledgeview Elementary School, Clarence Middle School and Clarence Center Elementary School.

Before his administrative roles, Weiss taught grades five and six, as well as the Russian language in Buffalo public schools. Weiss has received many honors and academic awards, including Middle School Principal of the Year for Western New York in 2005.

Current Head of School Jeff Schapiro is retiring after four years.
