Orthosports opens Harris Hill Road location

Dr. Peter Young
Orthosports, an independently owned physical therapy practice since 1989, recently held a grand opening celebration of its second location, at 8637 Main St., near Harris Hill Road, in Clarence.

The flagship facility is located at 3970 Harlem Road, Amherst. The business was established by Dr. Donna Gulick and Dr. Peter Young.

Orthosports offers a wide range of services designed to help individuals of all skill levels improve their performance in sports, improve their appearance, increase energy and boost the quality of life.

"Our programs are designed not only to develop an athlete's physical potential, but to provide fitness education that will empower an athlete for life," according to the Orthosports Web site, www.OrthoSportsPT. com

Orthosports also offers a wide spectrum of rehabilitative programs

"Our goal at Orthosports is to provide the highest quality physical rehabilitation possible," the site states. "If you require spine therapy, pool therapy, orthopedic rehab, pre and post-surgical rehabilitation, pain management, or TMJ therapy, we have the skills, staff, and equipment to meet your need."

The staff includes Olympian Kelly Hacker as Orthosports program director. Hacker, a Tonawanda native, is an 11-year athlete of the U.S. Ski Team and a two-time national champion in the freestyle skiing aerials. She has been to four World Championships and has more than 20 top 10 World Cup finishes. Hacker is ISSA-certified as a personal fitness trainer, specialist in sports conditioning, certified level III USSA coach and an American Sports Education Program coach.

Young and Gulick said Orthosports emphasizes individualized treatment plans and hands-on care.

"You will never feel as though you are just a 'number,'" the site states. "We treat each individual, and will take the necessary time to assist you as you recover. We will integrate hands-on care with various treatments including exercise as appropriate."

Patients are also provided with a home program and education about their condition.

In addition to the one-on-one attention in individual fitness training as well as athletic training, Orthosports also offers team conditioning.

"We welcome teams and groups to join our training programs," according to Young and Gulick. "We also encourage inquiries from coaches and trainers interested in off-site group programs and instructional seminars.

"Athletes work together yet progress at their own rate, gaining strength and knowledge that not only helps them achieve their full potential, but helps create the foundation of athletic success," they said.
