Police Blotter

Friday, Jan. 25
• A woman called police from Alberta Drive to report that her boyfriend wouldn't return her cell phone. He then attempted to leave with the phone. All was calm when police responded.
• A large black dog was reportedly attacking someone at Tonawanda Creek and Hopkins roads. The dog was gone upon arrival.
• Police were called to Lamarck Drive where the babysitter was locked in a bedroom because the door handle came off.
• A car drove into a window at a Niagara Falls Boulevard business.
• A resident was concerned about two youths playing hockey on Walton Woods Pond. The complainant told them it wasn't frozen.
Saturday, Jan. 26
• A woman called from a Kensington Avenue restaurant, saying her friend was intoxicated and she didn't want to ride with him. She had no friends to call or money for a cab. She was assisted.
• A woman walked into police headquarters on Audubon Parkway to report that her friends tried to abduct her and take her to Erie County Medical Center. University at Buffalo police met the subject and took her to ECMC. Police reported that no crime took place.
• A suspicious man carrying a crowbar was reported on Tonawanda Creek Road. He told police he was attacked by a pit bull while walking the other day and was carrying the crowbar for protection.
• A complainant reported $25,000 in fraud that involved purchases at a Las Vegas hotel.
• Police received a call from a Coronation Drive resident reporting that someone was on the complainant's roof. The complainant called back and said the person had gotten off the roof.
Sunday, Jan. 27
• Police received a call from Tristan Lane where a man saw two men walking into the woods and overheard one say, "Hit that one good." When they left, the complainant followed their footprints and saw tracks of blood. The complainant thought they were poaching deer. Police located the suspects' vehicle, and the men admitted they were in the woods picking up antlers.
Monday, Jan. 28
• A woman was driving on Millersport Highway and was flipped off. She wanted the incident on record.
• An Ava Lane resident reported that an animal with long fur and resembling a rat was near a bird feeder, barely moving for five to six hours.
• A man called police from Ransom Oaks Drive, complaining that he was moving out and didn't have house keys and was afraid his wife would lock him out. Police gave him some options.
• A fight was reported at Chuck E. Cheese on Harlem Road, possibly between two parents. The fight was actually between two youths fighting over a video game, and the parents became involved.
Tuesday, Jan. 29
• A Brandywine Drive resident reported that someone nailed her door shut from the outside.
• A McKinley Avenue resident complained that the roommate's mother was refusing to leave.
• A car seat check was requested at police headquarters. The resident had the car seats but not the car that needed the seats.
• The landlord of a Brittany Drive apartment reported that tenants had been evicted legally two weeks ago and now someone was taking a shower. There was no answer at the house.
Wednesday, Jan. 30
• A resident complained that someone was on his roof, and he was afraid the person would come down the chimney. Everything was checked and in order.
• An intoxicated female was reported at a Millersport Highway hotel. The manager was unsure if the woman was conscious.
• A Rosedale Boulevard resident called police, reporting that an awning fell onto the porch. No wires were involved, and the resident wanted advice. She was advised to check the phone book and call a handyman.
• A house on Rosemont Drive was damaged when the neighbor's tree fell on it.
• A light pole snapped in half on Walton Drive.
• Police logged 284 calls as of the morning of Jan. 31, many for road obstruction, downed trees, signals out and other damage from the wind. On Wednesday, Jan. 23 there were 161 calls and on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 133 calls.
Thursday, Jan. 31
• A North Ellicott Street resident reported that someone was knocking at the front door. A garbage can had blown over, causing the noise.
• A fire was reported at a South Union Road apartment; $250 in contents were damaged.
