MSM's Powalski signs with Canisius

Williamsville resident and Mount St. Mary Academy senior Kara Powalski has signed a National Letter of Intent to swim next year at Canisius College, where she plans to major in biology/pre-med.
Powalski, recently named an All-WNY Scholar-Athlete, is a four-year member of the Mount St. Mary Academy swim team. She placed first in the 100 free, second in the 50 free and helped her 400 free relay team to a second-place finish at this year's All-Catholic meet. She has been swimming since she was 5 years old and is currently a member of the Tonawanda Titans Swim Club and Park Country Club Swim Team.
Powalski is an active member of the Mount St. Mary community, playing on the championship lacrosse team, serving as a peer tutor and volunteering for a variety of school events. She is a member of National Honor Society and the Sports Boosters Club.
