UBAM swimmers shine at IMX Championships

Nineteen of UBAM's top young swimmers competed at the 14 and Under Gold IMX Team Championship at the Webster Aquatics Center in Webster, N.Y.

A spectacular effort was turned in by all UBAM swimmers as they combined for over 150 lifetime best times.

Representing UBAM was Alyssa Anderson, Caroline Desidario, Alexandria Doody, Tori Fructaci, Alyssa Helak, Rachel Kuechle, Therese Mastrandrea, Brooke Pettis, Jamie Ruh, Rebecca Winnert, Brenna Woodling, Matthew Berus, Daniel Cho, Eugene Cho, Jerry Daigler, Huibo Guan, James Jiang, Kevin Kim, and Marc Ruszaj.

Bringing home medals for UBAM were Dan Cho (100 and 200 breast, 50 and 100 back, 50 breast), Eugene Cho (50, 100, and 200 breast), Guan (50, 100 and 200 free, 50 and 100 back and 200 IM), Helak (100 fly and 200 free), Kim (100 IM, 50 breast, 200 fly), Ruh (400 IM, 50, 200 and 500 free) and Winnert (200 free).

UBAM 8-year old Alyssa Helak broke her own club records in the 50, 100 and 200 free, 50 and 100 back, 100 fly, 100 and 200 IM.

Fourteen-year-old Jamie Ruh broke UBAM age group records in the 500 free (5:24.69) and 50 breast (34.64).

For the boys, Dan Cho broke the 11-12 age group UBAM record on his way to an IMX Championship in the 50 breast in 32.64.

IMX Championships were also claimed by the 11-12 boys relay team of Marc Ruszaj, Huibo Guan, Dan Cho and James Jiang. The foursome combined for gold in the 200 free, 200 medley, and 400 free relays.
