Merrill G. Alfes, 89, of Cheektowaga, died on Friday, Jan. 25, 2008 at Elderwood Health Care at Heathwood.

Alfes

Born in Buffalo, Mr. Alfes graduated from East High School.

He was chief executive officer of Mercantile Adjustment Bureau in Williamsville and worked for the Pohlman Foundry for more than 35 years, retiring in 1981.

Mr. Alfes was a member of the Lutheran Laymen's League and an usher at Amherst Lutheran Church for many years.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Elizabeth A., of Amherst; one son, James, of Williamsville; one daughter, Marilyn, of Carlstadt, N.J.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Services were held on Monday, Jan. 28 at the Cleveland Hill Chapel of the Amigone Funeral Home.
