Tokasz
Andrew Tokasz of Williamsville has been promoted to surety manager, Buffalo, by First Niagara Risk Management. He joined First Niagara in 1995 as account executive. In his current role, he oversees the commercial and contract surety bond department in the Buffalo region. He is also a board member and treasurer for Kids Escaping Drugs.

Gail Sunshine-May has been named executive director at Adoption STAR, based in Williamsville. She is a licensed clinical social worker with 25 years of experience. Before joining Adoption STAR, she held the position of adoption specialist with the New York State Office of Children and Family Services.

Dr. Kerrie Ferguson has opened her new office at 5353 Main St., at the corner of South Long, in Williamsville. She is a chiropractor treating adult, maternity and pediatric patients. For an appointment, call 984-0925.

Edward Hejza of Getzville has been named to the board of directors for Aspire of Western New York, headquartered in Amherst. He earned his general educational development credential through a program offered by Aspire. He has participated in the Technology Today program in Buffalo and worked at Allentown Industries, where he assisted individuals with self-advocacy interests.

Carey Shoemaker of Amherst has been named director of care coordination at Independent Health, based in Amherst. Most recently she was director of health management at APS Healthcare in Wisconsin. She has a background in all operational areas of healthcare management.

Flory G. Herman of East Amherst has been appointed general counsel at Adoption STAR. She received her law degree from the New York Law School and was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1989. She is an adoptive mother and has been a fellow of the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys since 1994.
