The Women Associates of the Buffalo Power Squadron recently installed the slate of officers for 2008, including Amherst residents Betty Christensen, publicity chair; Lois Ganter, treasurer; Joan Weichmann, entertainment chair; Judy Walker, co-chair entertainment and Joan White, Soundings - WABPS' magazine.

Girl Scout Troop 122 from Snyder made 122 heart-shaped pillows for Women and Children's Hospital of Buffalo, to be given to women following surgery for breast cancer. The Scouts hope the pillows will comfort the women. Taking part in the service project were Caroline Barrett, Maryann Bavisotto, Jen Brokob, Brianna Brooks, Nicole Murphy Daniels, Kailey Diem Kaye, Katie Lougen, Dayana Mullen, Chelsea Nowak, Taylor Ramsey, and Caroline Russ.

Rev. Arthur E. Mattulke, a native of Amherst, has been named pastor of St. Cecilia Parish, in Oakfield, and Our Lady of Fatima Parish, in Elba. He will take his new assignment on March 31. He is currently the pastor at St. Cecilia and St. Patrick Mission in Wheatfield, which merged with St. Cecilia.
