Couple celebrate 50 years

Deanna and Louis K. Diakos of Eggertsville celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a short church blessing, followed by an intimate brunch with their children. A celebration with family and friends is planned for the spring, after which the couple will go on a cruise.
Louis K. Diakos married the former Deanna Doerr at the Hellenic Orthodox Church of the Annunciation in Buffalo on Jan. 26, 1958.
Louis is a retired commercial painter and currently works for Friend Ship Travel. Deanna is the owner of Friend Ship Travel and is certified as a Cruise Lines International Association master cruise counselor.
Both are active with the Hellenic Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, where they have participated in various capacities, including with the annual Hellenic Festival.
Louis is a member and past commander of both Amherst Jurek American Legion Post and Amherst Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 416. He is past commander of Erie County Veterans of Foreign Wars, member of the Korean War Veterans Association of Western New York and a volunteer at the VA Medical Center in Buffalo. He is also a writer and collector of military photography.
Deanna is a member of the Women's Philoptochos Committee and an accomplished cook. Both are avid travelers.
The couple have two children.
