Burroughs resigns as town engineer Town Engineer Jeff Burroughs submitted his letter of resignation on Friday. "I feel like it's time for a change, I have personal and professional reasons," Burroughs said. According to Supervisor Satish Mohan, Burroughs will leave 10 days from the date of his letter. "It is a competitive position, I was told I can't appoint anyone until I have the civil service exam results," Mohan said. The test was administered in November, and Mohan expects the results by the end of the month. Mohan said that in the meantime, changes will be made internally to head the department. He expected to make the decisions by Tuesday evening, after press time. Burroughs completed his two-year term in 2007 and was not reappointed at the reorganizational meeting held on Jan. 7. At the time Mohan said he would wait for the exam results before make a permanent appointment. The Engineering Department's annual budget is more than $20 million, encompassing the compost facility, sewer and water operations. Burroughs was appointed in 2005 by Mohan, replacing Paul Bowers, who had been the town engineer for 14 years. Burroughs is a former engineering student of Mohan's and, prior to being named town engineer, was an assistant municipal engineer in the town's Engineering Department. He has 14 years experience at the town. |
