Deadline nearing to take state correction officer exam

New York State Assemblyman Jim Hayes has announced that an examination will be held Saturday, April 12, for candidates interested in the position of correction officer trainee with the New York State Department of Correctional Services. Applications for the exam must be postmarked no later than Feb. 25 and must be accompanied by a $30 filing fee.

Candidates must be at least 21 years old on or before the date of appointment and must hold a high school diploma or equivalency diploma. Starting salary for a correction officer trainee is currently $34,329.
