Is it possible to freeze a town budget for two years?

      Supervisor Satish Mohan said he wants to freeze the Town of Amherst's budget for the next two years. (See editorial on page four) He made the statement during his State of the Town address, part of the Amherst Chamber of Commerce's annual luncheon, held on Friday at Classics V Banquet Center.

Super Tuesday expected to set tone of presidential election

      Voters will likely experience a colder trip to the polls this year now that New York State has moved its primary election to February. In April 2007, Gov. Eliot Spitzer signed a bill moving the primary from March 4 to Feb. 5.

Senator Rath will not seek re-election

      After 15 years in office, New York State Sen. Mary Lou Rath will not seek re-election. The 16th District Republican made the announcement on Monday, saying that each year there comes a time to decide whether to run again or do something else with her life. This year she has decided not to run.

Burroughs resigns as town engineer

      Town Engineer Jeff Burroughs submitted his letter of resignation on Friday. "I feel like it's time for a change, I have personal and professional reasons," Burroughs said. According to Supervisor Satish Mohan, Burroughs will leave 10 days from the date of his letter.
