Bantam Bisons thwarted in Toronto

The North Buffalo Bantam Minor Team qualified for the playoffs in the ten-team field, but came up on the short end of a 2-0 score to the Brantford 99ers in Toronto over the weekend.

Both goals came on the power play as special teams dominated the game.

In round robin action, the Bisons won a close contest against the Ajax Knights, 2-1, getting goals from Evan Thur (Josh Little) and Joshua Shupe (Eric Adolf).

Buffalo then rolled over the Pittsburgh Predators, 9-0, and the Scarborough Penguins, 6-0.

Conner Naughton and Jim Basil handled the net duties in recording the shutouts.

Scoring for the Bisons were Adolf, Jim Frauenhofer, Thur (three goals), David Arthur (four), Sam Romano (two), Shupe, Jake Pugliese (two), and Lucas Buscemi.

Arthur had the hat trick against the Pens.

Assists were tallied by Shupe, Buscemi (three), Arthur (two), Adolf, Brad Martynowicz, Craig Knowlton, Thur, and James Brand.

JC Grabenstatter, Ian McQuestion, and Sean Basil all played well in this the final tournament of the year.

The Bisons return to league action on Saturday and Sunday against Bud Bakewell and the Coyotes, respectively.
