Williamsville East's boys swimming team picked up a huge 91-89 win over Williamsville North last Tuesday at Transit Middle School.
Flames coach Mike Doerfler said it was the first time in at least five years that East has beaten North in a boys swim meet.

Doerfler said his team had more depth in the 100-yard backstroke and 100 breaststroke events to clinch the win. East also took second and third in the last event, the 400 free relay, to gain an additional six points.
North won the 400 free relay in 3:29.91 but needed a second or third to win the meet.
Doerfler said East swimmer Neil Batta beat out a North swimmer on the last leg of the second 400 free relay.
East trailed North in the meet by as many as 14 points.
