Williamsville North Student Council recognizes the extraordinary achievements of two members of its senior class each month. Students featured in this column are selected by faculty recommendation. The Spartan Spots for January 2008 are Sohrab Kohli and Kayla Maxwell.
Kohli, son of Harvey and Dimple Kohli of East Amherst, has participated in and led several clubs at North. Kohli is a co-captain of North's Mock Trial Team, a club that requires students to have an active involvement in hypothetical trial situations. He is president of the National Honor Society, vice president of the Math Honor Society and region president of DECA, North's business club.
Aside from being the head of several clubs, Kohli also is an active member of the Model UN and the Scholastic Bowl. He is also active in the community through a full-time summer internship at Ethox International and Amherst Youth Basketball.
Kohli enjoys golf, politics, traveling and sports entertainment. In the future, he hopes to study economics and applied mathematics while pursuing a career in finance and possibly corporate law.
