Nubia Y. Tijerina and Richard J. Cawthard

Ofilia Tijerina of Laredo, Texas, announces the engagement of her daughter, Nubia Yveth Tijerina, to Richard J. Cawthard, son of Ann Cawthard of Orchard Park and Richard Cawthard of North Collins. Miss Tijerina is also the daughter of the late Raul C. Tijerina.

Miss Tijerina graduated from J.W. Nixon High School in 1998. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Texas A&M University in 2002 and a master's degree in special education with an emphasis in educational diagnostics, also from Texas A&M, in 2004. She is an educational diagnostician with the Kingsville Independent School District in Kingsville, Texas, and a member of the Texas Educational Diagnosticians Association.

Her fiance graduated from West Seneca West High School in 1996. He attended Buffalo State College and is a canine handler with the U.S. Border Patrol in Kingsville, where he has been stationed for eight years.

A July 2008 wedding is planned.
