Sweet Home boys bowling to compete for division title

The Sweet Home boys bowling team improved its record to 8-1 after defeating Williamsville East, 7-0, on Monday at Manor II Lanes.

The Panthers will bowl West Seneca East for the ECIC Division II championship at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Wimbledon Lanes.

The Panthers were led by Ryan Kaminiski with a 661 series. Kaminski had games of 223, 181 and 257. Peter Schaefer was right behind Kaminski with a 657 set. Schaefer had games of 174, 257 and 226.

Brian Barnas broke out of his slump with a 613 set. Barnas had games of 233 and 223.

Captain Aaron Klein also shot a 600 with a 603 set. Klein was very consistent with games of 209, 192 and 202.

Jason Huebert had a 201 game.

Sweet Home defeated Iroquois, 6-1, last Tuesday, at Lancaster Lanes.

Leading the Panthers was Steve Robinson, who rolled games of 221-180 and 213 for a 614 set. Not far behind Robinson was Schaefer with a 611 set. Schaefer had games of 216-183-212.

Ryan Clark rolled a 202 and 215, Shaun Louis had a 237 game, Alex Von Langen threw a 226, and Klein had a 204 game.

Amherst girls The Lady Tigers are 1-7 as of Jan. 11 with its only win coming over Springville, 6-1, on Jan. 7 at Airport Lanes.

Jessica Banning and Carolyn Sobol rolled high games of 185 and 181 to lead the "A" team to a first and third game win and total "B" team effort, sweeping all three games.

Amherst coach Dennis Illig said except for a couple of other matches, his team has been in the hunt, winning a game here and there but losing the match.

High averages to date are senior Carolyn Trabert (162 average), Banning (140 average), and senior Kristin Ortman (131 average).

Amherst bowls Pioneer at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Arcade Lanes.
