Titan swimmers end 2007 swimming, giving

The Town of Tonawanda Titans closed out 2007 with an afternoon of time trials.

The time trials are held as an official USA Swimming time that counts toward the swimmer's national ranking in swimming.

Fourteen Amherst residents competed in the trials. Emily Kopas set a new woman's 11-12 Titans' club record in the 50-yard breaststroke.

Personal-best swims were turned in by Amherst residents Jacob Hofmar Glennon, Allison Kopas, Lauren Phillips, Haley Epstein, Alaina Laszewski, Kevin Kokolus, Hayley Hofmar-Glennon, Lindsey Darling, Aleza Epstein, Leia Federiconi, Amanda Kopas, Rebecca Anthone and Sierra Morahan.

Titans' families also brought hundreds of pounds of food to the time trials, which was donated to area shelters.

The Town of Tonawanda Titans will start off the New Year with a succession of meets beginning with the Niagara District Bronze meet. The 14-and-under Gold IMX meet and the senior "Go the Distance" meet also take place in January. For more information, visit www.ttscswimming.com.
