Correnne S. Wilber, former teacher's aide for the Amherst Central School District
Correnne S. Wilber, 82, of Amherst, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007.

A native of Springfield, Vt., she received an associate degree from the Northampton Business School in Massachusetts.
She was a former teacher's aide at Windermere Boulevard School and Smallwood Drive Elementary School in the Amherst Central School District. She ran a reading center for students while a teacher's aide at Smallwood School. In the past, she was a guidance counselor at Amherst Central High School.
Mrs. Wilber was an active volunteer and member of Christ United Methodist Church, the Amherst Lions Club and the American Field Service, sponsoring an AFS student from Germany. Mrs. Wilber was the primary caregiver for her husband after he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease.
She enjoyed socializing, cooking, camping and the outdoors and watching her children play sports.
She was predeceased by her husband, Herbert H. Jr. She is survived by two sons, Bruce A., of Rossmore, Calif., and Herbert M., of Amherst; one daughter, Elaine Bader, of Brockport; one brother, Robert Salmond; one sister, Sylvia Columbia; and four grandchildren.
Services were held on Dec. 15. Arrangements were made by the Dengler & Roberts Funeral Home. The family thanks Dr. William Healy and Dr. Joseph Gelormini for their care of Mrs. Wilber.
