Supervisor has conflict of interest

The position of Town Supervisor in Amherst is one of great importance and one which requires the utmost integrity.

Dr. Satish Mohan has been a tenured member of the University at Buffalo faculty for the past 30 years.

From the very beginning of the Maple Road project, the developers talked about what an important part the University would play in this development. In newspaper articles it was noted that the University supported this project and that it was an example of cooperation between the Town and the University.

The New York State Ethics Commission and the Amherst Board of Ethics have both ruled that Dr. Mohan should not participate in decisions of the Town which involve the University.

The Maple Road project is clearly a conflict of interest. Supervisor Mohan should recuse himself and abstain from voting on this project.
