Mite Stars defeat recent opponents

The Mite Stars beat the Sharks, 5-4, in a wild ride on Sunday.

The Stars' Anthony DeMaria beat Sharks goalie Sam Pastore to start the scoring but the Sharks answered back with goals from Quinn Verpoten, Adam Higgens and Paul Arias.

Star goalie Ryan Gracie and Pastore kept the game scoreless in the second period.

The Stars opened up the scoring in the third period when DeMaria scored back-to-back goals. DeMaria scored his fourth goal assisted by Jacob Barberio. The Sharks' Higgins scored from Joe Marchese with 48 seconds remaining. With four seconds left, DeMaria scored the winning goal.

Stars 4, Penguins 3

The Stars opened the scoring when Cameron McMahon scored his first goal in the first period followed by his second goal a minute later. The Penguins' Allison Attea scored to end the first period.

The Penguins' Ryan Meade scored in the second followed by a goal by the Stars' Anthony De- Maria.

Liam Gallagher put the Penguins ahead in the third period, only to be answered by the Stars' Brayden Homberger.

Stars 3, Rangers 2

The Stars opened up the scoring when Courtney Cavarello scored her first goal, assisted by Matt Schrlau, followed by her second goal, assisted by Anthony DeMaria in the first period.

The Rangers answered back with two goals in the second period. DeMaria's goal in the third period clinched the win.

A solid effort was provided by the Stars' Jacob Barberio, Colin Branka, Joe Dispenza, Cam McMahon, Jack Ohle, Nick Signore, Brandon Zielinski, Dan Doyle, Ryan Frost, Theo Gogos, Ryan Gracie, Brayden Homberger, Gracie Marren and Deven Wistner.
