Rachel R. Savarino, wife, mother, grandmother
Rachel R. Savarino, 93, of Williamsville, died on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008.

Savarino
Born in Buffalo, Mrs. Savarino was a member of the Perseverance Auxiliary and the Paolini Cousins Club. In the 1950s and 1960s, she was a member of the Kenmore Mercy Hospital Guild and the Saint Benedict Altar and Rosary Society.

She was known for her culinary skills and enjoyed providing hospitality for family and friends. She also enjoyed winter vacations in Pompano Beach and Marco Island, Fla.

In 1998, she was honored by her children with the dedication of the Rachel R. Savarino Library at Trocaire College.

Mrs. Savarino was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Samuel J. "Cy," in 1984. She is survived by one son, Salvatore "Sonny"; four daughters, Rosalie Ciminelli, Bernadine "Berna," Marilyn Giancarlo and Donna Santoro; one brother, Alfonso "Funzie" Paolini; one sister, Elvira Muniza; 16 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services were held on Jan. 7 at St. Benedict Church. Arrangements were made by Amigone Funeral Home Inc.
