Earl C. 'Bud' Winzig, retired co-owner of Young & Swartz Company
Earl C. Winzig, 85, of Amherst, died on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008.

Born in Buffalo, Mr. Winzig graduated from Seneca Vocational High School in 1940. He served with the U.S. Army Air Force in the Pacific Theatre during World War II, attaining the rank of sergeant.
He worked at the Young & Swartz Company, a family business established in 1866. Mr. Winzig was the co-owner of the brush manufacturing and wholesale distributor for 60 years.
He was a ham radio operator and member of the Amateur Radio Association of the Tonawandas for 45 years and was featured on The Buffalo News for making a home-built television set in 1948.
Mr. Winzig was a dedicated member of the Masons. He was past master of the Transportation Lodge 842, Free and Ac- cepted Masons; past high priest and secretary of the Tonawanda Keystone Royal Arch Chapter 71, Royal Arch Masons; a member of the Buffalo Consistory, Ismalia Temple A.A.O.N.M.S.; and a member of the Legion of Honor. He was also a dedicated member of Trinity Old Lutheran Church in Amherst.
Mr. Winzig was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Sheila G. He is survived by one son, David E.; one daughter, Sharon A. Ball; one brother, Raphael E.; and two grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 12 at Trinity Old Lutheran Church, 3445 Sheridan Drive, Eggertsville.
