Transplant Services holds blood drives throughout January Upstate New York Transplant Services Community Blood Service will hold open-to-public blood drives for the month of January. In keeping the blood program community-based, Upstate ensures that local donations go to local patients in need at local hospitals. In addition, the service is saving area hospitals as much as 30 percent per unit, with projected five-year savings to the region totaling $20 million. Outside of personnel, transfusion costs are among the highest regional hospitals face. Blood drives will be held at the following times: From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11 at the Lockport Memorial Hospital, 521 East Ave., Lockport. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 6168 Walmore Road, Sanborn. From 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14 at Niagara Falls YMCA, 1317 Portage Road, Niagara Falls. From 2 to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14 at the Orchard Park Presbyterian Church, 4369 South Buffalo St., Orchard Park. From noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15 at TRy-It Distributing, 4155 Walden Ave., Lancaster. From 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15 at the Boston Town Hall, 8500 Boston State Road, Boston. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16 at Kaleida Health DeGraff Memorial Hospital, 445 Tremont St., North Tonawanda. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17 at Adeptiv Solutions, 435 Lawrence Bell Drive, Williamsville. From 1 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17 at the Depew-Lancaster Moose Lodge, 5437 Broadway, Lancaster.
