Anniversary celebrated on New Year's Day

Bette and John McCarthy of Williamsville celebrated their 65th anniversary with friends on Jan. 1, 2008.

John McCarthy married the former Bette Kreinheder on Jan. 1, 1943 in Buffalo.

John was a plasterer for Local Union 9, and Bette was a grocery clerk at Loblaws.

They enjoy cross-country skiing.

The couple have two children, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
