.Why do municipalities pass laws and not enforce them? On any given garbage day, totes are overflowing and uncovered. Over the recent holiday weekend, two residents on South Long Street put them at the street on Saturday before a Wednesday pickup, continually adding bags to the open containers. Unsightly, unlawful, and so much for keeping the rats away.

.Happy New Year to Satish Mohan. You're doing a great job; keep up the great work, and continue to clean house, because that's what we elected you to do. Thank you for your steadfast focus on making things the way they should be within Amherst. Don't pay attention to the opinions you read in Bee Heard, because those are from people within your own office who are calling and stating things to protect their own offices. Just continue to do what we elected you do to, and we'll continue to pray for you.

.I now offer a rebuttal to the recent contributors to Bee Heard who delight in slandering Dr. Mohan. I'm not a town employee, but he has not done for this area what he promised to do two years ago. What do you mean he is universally respected?
