• SINGERS SOUGHT - The Buffalo Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society is seeking male singers to sing a cappella in the male chorus and/or quartets. The group meets at 7:30 p.m. Mondays at the Maryvale Community Center, 777 Maryvale Drive, Cheektowaga. For more information, call 835-8822.

• CHILDREN'S CLASSICAL BALLE T - Due to popular demand, the Carnegie Art Center has added another classical ballet class for the 2008 spring semester. A Creative Movement class with Bonnie Taylor, developed for children 3 to 4 years old, will be held Tuesday afternoons from 3:45 to 4:15 p.m. starting Tuesday, Jan. 8 and continuing through Tuesday, June 10 at Carnegie Art Center, 240 Goundry St., North Tonawanda; $. 694-4400, Ext. 304, www.carnegieartcenter.org/children

• IN RESIDENCE - The UB Department of Music, in association with the Marilyn Horne Foundation, is hosting baritone Jesse Blumberg, for a four-day residency between Feb. 6 and 9. The residency will include visits to Sweet Home High School at 9:30 a.m., and Buffalo Seminary at noon p.m. Feb. 6; and Clarence High School at 9:40 a.m., and the University at Buffalo vocal studio at noon Feb. 7. Blumberg will give a recital at 8 p.m. Feb. 9 at Baird Recital Hall, UB North Campus, Amherst.

• CALL FOR WORK - Squeaky Wheel is seeking installation proposals around the theme of love and sex for "Peepshow 2008," to be installed in the open booths and spaces of the Broadway Market in February. You must submit a one-page description of your installation, including a description of the project and the equipment you'll need from Squeaky Wheel (projectors, monitors, DVD players, etc.). The deadline is Tuesday, Jan. 22. In addition, provide a copy of your resume. Installation artists will be able to install on Friday, Feb. 8, and all works must be removed by Monday, Feb. 11. • CALL FOR WORK - Big Orbit Gallery is seeking submissions for its annual Members' Exhibition to be held Jan. 26- March 1. An opening reception will be held from 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26. All current, new, and renewing members of Big Orbit are invited to participate; all members can submit up to two artworks for inclusion; all work should be ready to hang, meaning matted and/or framed; all work should be labeled with artist's name, title, process, date and sales price; video and film work is acceptable, but contact the gallery prior to submitting to make arrangements. Select work will be exhibited on Big Orbit's Web site at www.bigorbitgallery.org. Dropoff runs through Sunday, Jan. 20 during regular gallery hours, from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday through Sunday.
