Southern belles

O'Connell & Company is presenting Southern belles who are flowery on the outside, but strong enough inside to survive any challenge with nerves of steel, grace, and, of course, well-kept fabulous hair, in "Steel Magnolias," on stage Thursday, Jan. 10 through Sunday, Feb. 3.

"Steel Magnolias" is the story of a close-knit circle of friends whose lives come together at Truvy's Beauty Parlor in Louisiana. Filled with humor and heartbreak, these "Steel Magnolias" will make audiences laugh and cry as the realities of their lives in tiny Chiquapin Parish unfolds.

"Steel Magnolias," by Robert Harling and directed by Mary Moebius, features Stephanie Bax, Pamela Rose Mangus, Dolores Mendolia, Michele Marie Roberts, Jennifer Toomey Starr and Tess Spangler. Set and costume design are by Mary Kate O'Connell, sound design is by Larry Scheur, and technical producer and lighting design are by Jim Pritchard.

Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 2:30 p.m. Sundays at the Cabaret in the Square Theatre at Snyder Square, 4476 Main St. at Harlem Road, Snyder.
