Dr. Wagle to become first WNY physician to lead American Urological Association
      Datta G. Wagle, M.D., of Williamsville has been elected as president-elect of the American Urological Association at the Northeastern Section of AUA's annual conference in Santa Fe, N.M. He will serve a three-year tenure starting in May 2009 as president-elect and become president of the American Urological Society in May 2010.

Advanced Eye Care Center to donate eye exam fees to give sight to people in need
      Williamsville optometrist Dr. Jeff Calhoun will take part in World Sight Day on Thursday, Oct. 9, to help the estimated 300 million people who are blind or vision-impaired simply because they do not have access to an eye exam and a pair of glasses.

      Toastmasters set public speaking course The Speak for Success Club, a chapter of Toastmasters International, will hold a meeting from 11:55 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, in the auditorium at Calspan Corporation, 4455 Genesee St., Cheektowaga. The focus of the meeting will be to improve public speaking skills.

Parachute Group added to 2-1-1 central database
      The Parachute Group, a community-based networking group for displaced employees, was recently added to 2-1-1, Western New York's central database. The new 2-1-1 number speaks to that agency's and the United Way's commitment (2-1-1 WNY is a United Way-funded agency) to streamlining citizen access to all nonemergency health and human services available in our community.
