      Air Force Lt. Col. Timothy P. Devine is currently deployed to Afghanistan serving on the anniversary of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. Devine, son of Kathleen Devine, graduated from Amherst Central in 1982 and received a bachelor's degree in 1986 from Buffalo State College.

      Award-winning author and Amherst native Laura Pedersen's new memoir, "Buffalo Gal," is a humorous view of growing up in Western New York in the 1970s and 1980s. The book is scheduled for release in early October.

Parking pass processing for disabled seniors will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, and Friday, Sept. 26, by members of the Town of Amherst Clerk's Office staff.
